Hiking the White Mountains

Getting there:
Boston is the nearest city with great flight deals. It is 120 miles away from The White mountains. Other options are flying to Lincoln,NH etc.

Places to Stay:
Lincoln, NH is a small town with nice accomodations like Nomadic Inn with Moutain view Balconies, Free wi-fi, and Jacuzzi. The access to the trial is just a few minutes drive from this town.

Hiking:
The Falling water Trial

The Falling water Trial is part of the Applachian trial that takes to the Little Haystack mountain which rises to 4800 feet. LittleHayStack is however not included in the "fourthousand footer" due to as in the words of wikipedia "because it stands less than 200 ft (61 m) above the col on the ridge from Lincoln".

Along the Hiking path -

An Excerpt from Google Search - " The trail starts along with the Old Bridle Path from the parking lot and goes .3 miles to a bridge at Walker Brook. The path forks and the left is the Old Bridle Path. Take right fork and cross the bridge and you are now on the Falling Waters Trail.

Living up to its name, in .5 miles from the bridge you cross Dry Brook and another .1 mile later you are at Stairs Falls. Another .1 mile further and you are at Swift Water Falls. Then it's another .4 miles to Cloudland Falls. .9 miles further is Shining Rock Cliff. From there, continue on another half mile to the summit of Little Haystack"

A Distance of 3.6 miles to the top of the Little hay stack reaching an elevation of 4800 feet, the path could get steeper at the last 1 mile. We will find the river flowing along the path carrying fresh, cool and clean water for the first 2 miles.

Once on the top of the Little HayStack, it gives a great view of Mt.Lincoln and we can spot the lonesome lake at a distance. It  might get chillier with the winds and clouds. The grass and tiny flowers on the ground is velvetty soft.

If one takes the path further down for another 2 miles, they arrive at the Little hayStack hut that provides accomodation and food available for purchase.Advance reservations are always suggested if you plan to stay. This would be a nice place to spend the night if one plans to hike the whole loop*.

*Loop - One can cover the whole loop and arrive back at the Bridge through the old Bridle path ( Please see the attached map).

The LonesomeLake Trial

A 1.2 mile hike one way starting from the campGrounds, this is a cool and easy hike good for a day hike or picnic.

Along the Hiking path -  Once at the lonesome lake, there are accomodations available with beach access to the lake. A board walk around the lake gives a view of the beautiful mountains.

Things to Pack:
For the Falling Water Trial Hike -  Along with the basic essentials like the FirstAid kit and Torch, it is a good idea to carry a light jacket if it gets really colder at the peak. Poncho to shield ourselves from the Rain, water resistant shorts/pants, An extra pair of socks would be handy.
For the LonesomeLake Trial Hike - Pack your swim suits if you are interested to take a dip in the Lake through the beach access. Expect lot of mud and dirt on/around the boardWalk.
Pack a swimsuit if planning for a Jacuzzi once you are back at the hotel to relieve from any aches.
