Our Recent trip to Daytona Beach was full of Sunshine and fun! Daytona Beach is a wonderful warm place to escape the winter. The water gets slightly colder after the sunset during the winter season, but gets sufficiently warmer by the day. Though it was a last minute one day trip, we had unlimited fun playing in the beach waters. we were able to cover most of the interesting hot spots.
- Transportation
The local airport has good number of planes flying to the nearest International aiport at Atlanta that has great connectivity. Once at the Daytona beach, it is best to hire a rental car. Also, there are local tourism buses available. One such company is the Aqua Safari that consists of a tourism package with a water ride and visit to the light house too. - Accommodation
The Atlantic avenue is lined with resorts and five star hotels that provides ocean view for a decent price. Some of them has balconies overlooking the ocean. Watching the sun rise from the balcony is a splendid scenic view. The La playa resort provides suites suitable for a longer stay. It provides a mini kitchen, balcony with ocean view, a living room with Television etc. The Hilton has a Late night bar lounge over looking the Cocquina clock tower. All these resorts provides access to the beach shores from their back entrance. I suggest that you stay on Atlantic Avenue that overlooks the ocean and with plenty of restaurants and shops on the other side of the road.
- Highlights
The best thing to do at the Beach is ofcourse , beaching. Walking along the shore, sea combing for shells ( A lot of white shells of different sizes is found usually at the beach), bicycling are some of the exciting things. Walk along the shore with bare feet - you can feel the sand, and tiny crushed bits of shells that stimulates your feet making you feel refreshed. We saw people canoeing, building mud castles, and picnicking there.
Also, an important feature of this beach is beach- driving is allowed. For a $5 ticket, you can drive in your car on the beach along the suggested route and posted speed limits...Dream of driving your car on the shore with the windows rolled down, in the beach breeze! Look for "Beach Ramp" points along the atlantic avenue that provides passenger car access routes to the beach.
The Bike festival takes place in the months of February and October. This event attracts more than 5,000,00 visitors during that week. Harley Davidson bike museum is so much fun at that time to visit.

- Daytona 500 Experience - Must - see for NASCAR fans. There are simulation rides and thrillers.
- Ponce De Leon Inlet Light house - Gives a nice view of the atlantic ocean. The GPS may not be able to detect the address properly with the official ones. Drive straight on Atlantic avenue and it leads to Ponce de Leon. There is a marine center too.
- Dolphin and Whale watching - There are a number of cruises for Whale and Dolphin watching. During the sea turtle nesting season, you will find the sea turtles on the beaches itself. Please be careful not to trod on it or its nest.
- Daytona Pier - The restaurant on the Pier is open in the mornings for breakfast. During summer seasons, the Pier is open for fishing. There are Rides too available. There is a fountain area at the entrance to the right of the pier. Try going through the multiple fountains :-)
- The Daytona Beach Bandshell is a performance stage set up at the Daytona beach where concerts go on around the year. During summer, after the sun set the concert ends with a display of fireworks in the dark sky.
- Coquina clock tower - Has alphabets that reads "Daytona Beach" instead of the numeric range 1- 12.

A number of Restuarants are available on Atlantic avenue. There is a Starbucks located near La Playa resort.The Indian Restuarant tastes good but is a little over priced. Pizza deliveries are available too. The China Buffet near the airport has a variety of sea foods and desserts. Address of different food locations are listed in the Itinerary.
